Saturday saw the visitors do a bit of awareness and marketing for their homeland. In fact - it was quite an educational experience..we learnt Key Economic and Socials Indicators as well as main attractions for each of the Countries. Countries presented were: Afghanistan, Egypt, Fiji,Iraq, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda. As a fellow class member stated, 'now I am confused...I was wanting to go to Egypt to see the pyramids....but then there were the beaches in Fiji and Scenes from Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda....and then there is Afghan and Iraq...I am really confused as to where I should go....' We were able to appreciate the overseas participants' background...it was awesome.
We then were treated to the inside operations of the IFFCO - Fertiliser company and the Shipping Corporation of India. They made very detailed and interesting presentations. Commendable is the fact that there are Ladies in the SCI that have actually made it through the ranks of the organisation. Captain Anil Sharma then gave us more inside information on the operations and maintenance of Ships and Tankers as well as on the pirates and what the operations is normally like when pirates board a ship. For us that work on mainland - this information was truly insightful and we are truly appreciative of the information given..in fact - I am resolving - not to work on a ship - ever - this pirate business is too scary...lols....I suppose that it is not work for the weak at heart..but for the strong ones only...!!!!
In the afternoon, we worked on our various Business Simulations - we strategised and discussed and discussed some more.....and then strategised some more....at the end we submitted our input for QTR 1 - well the group named Doctor won the first round...hmm..the rest of us would like to think that we are the underdogs......lols..lols......I suppose this will be the battle of minds and may the best minds win...we have another five rounds to go folks.....do not give up...
Until next time....
